Koh Mak Island

On Koh Mak we believe less is more. This tiny tropical treasure, one of Thailand's best-preserved small islands, is an ideal destination for visitors who enjoy a tranquil environment unspoiled by mass tourism. But our island is also more than just white sand beaches and 10,000 majestic palm trees. There’s also a temple, three village fishing communities, rubber plantations, two uninhabited beaches, a primary school, a market, a health centre, three diving schools, a selection of souvenir shops and variety stores, two internet cafés, and 13 (at last count) tasty, family-run restaurants.

Koh Mak, with its many beautiful white sand beaches and stunning clear blue water, is the perfect place for relaxing, soaking up the sun, and then cooling off with a refreshing dip in the ocean. And because the island is small and flat, it’s also perfect for exploring and getting close to nature. Try one of the jungle walks, or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, there’s a 3-hour cycle track that winds through plantations, jungle tracks, fishing villages and along the panoramic coastline.

Just off the western edge of Koh Mak lies the Koh Rang Marine Park, where there are many beautiful places for snorkeling and scuba diving. For snorkelers the best corals can be seen at Koh Kra and Koh Tong Lang, and for scuba divers there are many deep-water sites at Koh Rang. Trips can be arranged at any one of the island’s dive shops, or from the reception desk at Ao Kao White Sand Beach Resort.
